EW notes the low ratings of Flash Forward's return last night.  Not that you were watching, or caring.  I gave a fig back in the fall.  Here's what I wrote in the comments of the Yeah Right Blog's review of the new show.

I found myself at Several junctures disappointed by the writing. In particular, we see the primary character (who is so memorable to me a week after its premiere I can't recall his name) waking to news radio, reading a newspaper while staking out a target of an investigation. Okay, sure, but...I expect people to be looking at their smart phones for news and information. If people still read newspapers, newspapers wouldn't be going out of business. A minor point, but instantly, I see the primary as a little unbelievable.

Secondly, the amount of information, especially video, available to the television stations post blackout seemed implausible. I know, a show about a global flash forward contains implausibility, repeat to myself it's just a show, I should really just relax. As means of advancing the plot, it was inelegant. The all-seeing, all-knowing media has the scoop. But would they? Let's recall the craziness surrounding the initial moments of September 11th news coverage. There were three primary sites of newsmaking importance and it took them several hours to have any measure of definitiveness with anything reported. The oft repeated phrase fog of war returned to vogue that day. Take it further, each and every one of those television network and station employees would be dealing with their own disorientation of what they saw in their flash forwards. So their response would not be lightning fast, unless this was all caused by Rupert Murdoch and Fox News employees were given the antidote, as a means of boosting ratings. And lastly, most stations would treat their initial coverage local, local, local, being finally overridden by network honchos as more data became clear. In short, the use of media as expository dump could have been handled much, much better.

Finally, the convincing of the SAC (I'm guessing) that this is a flash forward and an agent needs to be removed from his current detail to run this down was far too pat. Why does he need to stop investigating the target he had staked out? Is that investigation closed? Wouldn't the SAC get orders from Washington and wouldn't the investigation be coordinated out of DoJ, rather than just the LA branch of the FBI? And in that case, wouldn't the initiation of such an investigation take the better part of the six months, rather than a quick meeting capped with the barely compelling argument, "It was a flash forward because I saw a calendar with a date of next year in my blackout." Human nature (as typified in Jack from Lost, FWIW) doesn't want to believe the unusual explanation. They search and search and search for some grounded explanation for an event, no matter how improbable it is, so long as it is not impossible. To just dive in without that conflict made the characters who were as you correctly note hardly compelling on their own impossible to relate to, for me. That barrier I suspect will be difficult for me to overcome as the show goes on. It does give hope. I can write a better story, now I just need to get a meeting to pitch it.

Regrettably the problems of production have virtually guaranteed the show would never actually figure out what it wanted to be.  Fromt he Nazi episode, to the improbable gunning down of one agent while the others were being attack on the other side of the country, to the silly plot line with the English scientists who live near San Francisco, Flash Forward can't figure out what it wants to be.  Then there was the ridiculous notion that DHS could commission a study more than eight years before it existed.  The writing was sloppy.  The characters grating and unrealistic.  Drama was handled with more shouts than tension.

It was an interesting concept.  Now it's boring melodrama, that can't be bothered with characters who we could connect to or a reality we would relate to.  Soon it will be a forgotten waste of too many hours of my life.
